NeilMed Sterile Saline Wound Wash
Our favourite product to recommend as aftercare for body piercings would definitely be the NeilMed Sterile Saline Solution sprays. This is a completely drug and preservative free, isotonic wound wash solution that is perfect for the cleaning of fresh piercings. Many wound care saline products that you might find at a pharmacy or other piercing studios will only have a very short shelf life (about 30 days after opening), where as the NeilMed spray will stay sterile for years to come thanks to their pressurised cannisters. You can use NeilMed as many times throughout the day as you like to keep the piercing site clean.
Natural Sea Salt
As an alternative, or in conjunction with NeilMed, you can also mix your own wound care saline solution using natural, fine crushed sea salt and hot water. We recommend no more than 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt mixed into 1 cup (250mL) of boiled water, and soaking your fresh piercing in the solution for 2 - 5 minutes. (Don't burn yourself! Let the water cool to a warm temperature).
Repeat this twice per day for 6 - 8 after the piercing, and you can begin to lessen the amount and frequency after that. Make a fresh solution every time you clean your piercing. This solution does not need to be made any stronger or used any more frequently than what is listed - stronger is not better!
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is one of the best products to use for scar tissue reduction, skin hydration, organic jewellery care, and even a jewellery lubricant! This oil is an all natural anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and vitamin E concentrate, which helps promote collagen production and build elasticity in stretching ears, as well as break down scar tissue in recently repaired ears.
Hustle Butter & Redemption
These products are used to hydrate and help heal fresh tattoos. Unlike commonly used products, these will not coat and suffocate the tattoo, but will hydrate and nourish the skin while your skin is recovering, allowing for minimal ink drop out and scar tissue development. Both are petroleum free are made from natural ingredients.
Mango Butter & Rosehip Oil
Mango Butter is a certified organic alternative for tattoo aftercare, as well as a great skin hydration also. The product contains natural vitamin E and as such as great wound healing properties, as well as providing a luxurious emollient feeling on the skin.
Rosehip Oil is another great alternative for skin hydration. The certified organic, cold pressed oil is best used on healed tattoos or dry skin to bring your skin back to life!
