"The Association of Professional Piercers (APP) is an international health and safety organization. It is a nonprofit voluntary alliance dedicated to the dissemination of information about body piercing. Governed by a voluntary elected Board of Directors, the APP is a united group of piercing professionals that freely shares information to help fellow members, piercers, health care professionals, legislators, health inspectors, and the general public get the best and most up-to-date information about body piercing."
In Australia, our industry is unregulated and there is no standardised training available for body piercing. This leaves the industry (and clients) open to piercers that have little-to-no training whatsoever, using sub-par quality jewellery, in an environment that is not as safe as it should be.
While the APP does not "certify" or "qualify" piercers, it does hold strict standards for membership for jewellery quality, piercer knowledge about health and safety, and the cleanliness and safety of the studio. Being APP Members verifies that we only use the best quality jewellery for all initial piercings, and that our studio meets high standards that allow us to deliver the safest and best possible results for body piercings.
APP Membership is important as we are a part of the only association for the betterment of our industry. We are dedicated to educating and providing our clients with the best possible information, service and products for body piercing, and the APP not only provides assurances to our clients that we are doing just that, but also provides us with a network of other professional piercers from all over the world that allows us to have the best and most up-to-date information on all things to do with body piercings.
